The AT-VMx series represents a new generation of moving magnet cartridges, inspired by the precision of professional cutting heads used in the production of vinyl master records. This concept – the so-called Dual Moving Magnet technology with vertical arrangement – precisely mirrors the 90° V-structure of the cutting head. Two magnets image the left and right channels of the record groove, creating a particularly realistic stereo image with outstanding channel separation and clear spatiality.

The AT-VM520xEB is equipped with an elliptical, bonded diamond stylus (0.3 × 0.7 mil) that precisely traces the groove walls, thereby extracting more detail from the music than a conical stylus. The result is an authentic, finely resolved sound with excellent high-frequency reproduction and a stable mid-range – ideal for discerning listeners who prefer a clear, balanced vinyl sound.

The heart of the system is the para-toroidal generator, in which two PCUHD® (Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability) copper coils are connected in series for each channel. This design ensures higher efficiency and particularly clean signal processing. A central shielding plate between the channels reduces crosstalk and improves channel balance, while the reduced coil winding optimizes impulse response – for a fast, dynamic, and spatial sound.

The low-resonance polymer housing and the hollow aluminum cantilever ensure mechanical stability and low vibration. With integrated threaded inserts, the cartridge can be mounted conveniently and securely – without nuts. The V-shaped cutout in the protective cap also provides an unobstructed view of the stylus tip, making it easier to precisely lower it onto the record.
