With the AT-VM745xML, Audio-Technica presents a first-class Dual Moving Magnet cartridge that combines precision, fine resolution, and dynamics at reference level.
Like all models in the VMx series, the AT-VM745xML is based on Audio-Technica's patented Dual Magnet technology, which is modeled after the design of a cutting head for vinyl master records. Two precisely positioned magnets mirror the geometry of the groove walls, ensuring superior channel separation and extended frequency response.
At the heart of the system is a para-toroidal coil construction, where two consecutively arranged PCUHD® (Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability) copper coils per channel achieve significantly improved electromagnetic performance. Due to the slightly reduced number of windings, the cartridge responds faster to signal changes – the result is a clear, direct, and vibrant sound with impressive transparency.
The Microlinear stylus precisely tracks the record groove, allowing for detailed, finely nuanced reproduction that cleanly resolves even complex musical passages.
This is supported by the solid boron cantilever, which responds to vibrations approximately 2.5 times faster than aluminum. This allows the finest dynamic differences to be captured more precisely and translated into an exceptionally realistic sound image.
The die-cast aluminum housing of the AT-VM745xML minimizes unwanted resonances and ensures stability and tranquility in the sound image. Threaded inserts facilitate mounting – ideal for headshells or integrated tonearms.
The V-shaped cutout in the protective cap offers a clear view of the stylus and facilitates precise lowering onto the record.
As with all cartridges in the VMx series, the styli of the AT-VM745xML can also be exchanged and combined with other VMx styli – for maximum flexibility and individual sound design.
