McIntosh MC152 – Compact Stereo Power Amplifier for HiFi and Home Cinema
Designed for Small to Medium-Sized Systems
The MC152 is particularly suitable for systems where a high-quality two-channel amplifier is desired, without the need for larger power models. In a classic HiFi system, it can be used as a stereo power amplifier; in home cinema, it lends itself to surround channels.
Easy Connectivity with Balanced and Unbalanced Inputs
Balanced and unbalanced inputs are available for connection to a preamplifier or an A/V control center. This allows the McIntosh MC152 to be flexibly integrated into various system concepts. Speakers are connected via McIntosh speaker terminals, designed for a secure connection with speaker cables.
Technologies in the McIntosh MC152
The McIntosh MC152 utilizes core McIntosh technologies such as Autoformer™, Power Guard®, Sentry Monitor™, and ThermalTrak™ output transistors. The Autoformer™ technology ensures proper impedance matching with speakers, Power Guard® monitors the signal and prevents clipping, while Sentry Monitor™ protects the output stage. The concept is complemented by a push-pull complementary circuit, solid-state design, LED fiber optic lighting, illuminated watt meters, and the classic McIntosh glass front. Thus, the stereo power amplifier combines important keywords such as McIntosh MC152, HiFi power amplifier, stereo power amplifier, 2-channel amplifier, Autoformer, Power Guard, and Sentry Monitor in one compact amplifier concept.
Classic McIntosh Design with Practical Display
The two large watt meters on the front display the output power of the channels and are among McIntosh's most recognizable design elements. The meter illumination can be switched. The glass front with LED fiber optic lighting emphasizes the high-quality character of the device without being intrusive.
Protection Functions for Amplifier and Speakers
Power Guard® monitors input and output signals and automatically reduces the input level if clipping is imminent. Sentry Monitor™ protects the output stage, while additional thermal protection circuits guard against overheating. This is particularly relevant if a power amplifier is to operate reliably and continuously in a demanding system.
Reasons to Choose the McIntosh MC152
- More compact housing compared to larger McIntosh power amplifiers
