Description
Powerful Mono Power Amplifier for Hi-Fi and Home Cinema
The MC830 is a 1-channel transistor power amplifier in an open chassis design. It delivers 300 watts into 8 ohms or 480 watts into 4 ohms, making it designed to power a single loudspeaker channel. For a stereo setup, two MC830 power amplifiers are used - one for the left and right channels respectively.
For Well-Considered System Concepts
The MC830 can be connected to a preamplifier or AV processor via a balanced XLR input or an unbalanced RCA input. This makes it suitable for both classic 2-channel Hi-Fi systems and high-end home cinema configurations. Our recommendation: Especially with a stereo setup using two mono power amplifiers, careful coordination with the preamplifier, loudspeakers, and cabling is worthwhile. We would be happy to assist you with this.
Protection Technology for Loudspeakers and Amplifiers
Power Guard® monitors the output signal and makes real-time adjustments if necessary to prevent clipping. Sentry Monitor™ protects the output stage from excessive currents and automatically resets once safe operating conditions are restored. Additionally, thermal protection circuits are integrated.
Operation Directly on the Device
On the front, there are two control knobs: The left knob controls the display of the watt meter with positions LIGHTS OFF, WATTS, and HOLD. The right knob controls the operating mode with OFF, REMOTE, and ON. The INPUT MODE switch on the rear allows you to select between balanced and unbalanced input. The Auto-Off function switches off the MC830 after 30 minutes without an input signal if it is activated.
Wattmeter and McIntosh Design
The fast-responding Dual-Scale Wattmeter shows the output power for 4-ohm and 8-ohm loudspeakers. The glass front, silver trim, direct LED backlighting, the illuminated logo, and the polished stainless steel chassis finish characterize the typical McIntosh appearance. The Monogrammed Heatsinks™ support cooling while also adding a striking visual accent.
Secure Loudspeaker Connection
The patented Solid Cinch™ loudspeaker terminals hold loudspeaker cables firmly and are designed to prevent accidental loosening. The terminals are gold-plated to prevent corrosion and transmit the audio signal cleanly to the connected loudspeaker. The MC830 is designed for loudspeakers with 4 or 8 ohms.
