With the PWX II power supply, the Black Cube phono preamplifier reaches a significantly higher sonic level. The power supply, which is standard in the Decade, also gives the Black Cube more authority in the bass, more effortless mids, and increased dynamics. The reproduction gains overall in naturalness and detail.

Elaborately Designed Power Supply

The core of the PWX II is a generously dimensioned 30 VA toroidal transformer, designed as an interference suppression transformer with an earthed shielding winding. This allows the power supply to simultaneously act as a filter against common-mode interference components from the mains – a decisive basis for the resulting sonic tranquility.

Compared to the PWX power supply, the PWX II uses even higher-quality power supply capacitors and pulse capacitors. The increased current delivery capability ensures a more stable supply to the connected audio components, even during dynamically demanding musical passages.

Symmetrical, Low-Noise, Professional

The PWX II provides a low-noise, symmetrical voltage supply of ±15 V and can power up to two Black Cube audio components simultaneously. To further suppress interference, inductors are integrated directly into the power supply lines.

The connection between the power supply and the audio component is made via two professional Neutrik XLR connectors with gold-plated contacts. These are soldered directly to the circuit board and have proven their high sound quality and long-term stability in professional studio technology for years.

Mechanical and Electrical Safety

The mains transformer is fuse-protected on the primary side. The mains power is supplied via an IEC socket. The housing is made of aluminum and, as with the Black Cube, is mechanically damped in the lid to minimize unwanted resonances.
