Yamaha True X Bar 90A: Soundbar for immersive movie sound and music

The Yamaha True X Bar 90A is a soundbar with an external subwoofer that delivers TV sound, movies, and music with immersive depth. Height speakers integrated into the soundbar incorporate the room's ceiling into the playback, while the separate subwoofer provides the bass foundation.

Yamaha True X Bar 90A features at a glance

• Immersive movie sound: Height Beam technology for height effects with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro-3D.
• Scene-adaptive sound: SURROUND:AI adapts the surround effects to the content being played.
• Music for everyday listening: MusicCast combines streaming and multi-room music.
• Flexible connectivity: TVs and external players can be connected via HDMI.

Immersive movie sound with height effects from the Yamaha True X Bar 90A

When the action in a movie moves upwards, twelve upward-firing Height Beam speakers use reflections from the ceiling: six on the left and six on the right. Yamaha's Beam Speaker technology controls the timing of the sound output from each height speaker using digital signal processing. This creates focused beams of sound whose direction is electronically adjusted so that height effects are perceived from above.

Using the MusicCast Controller app, you can adjust the height beam angles and volume levels and tailor the height playback to your listening environment. The speakers are not mechanically rotated; instead, the sound beams are electronically aimed.

In addition to these twelve height speakers, specially designed oval speakers are used for voices and instruments. The included subwoofer with a Symmetrical Flare Port complements the low frequencies and receives its audio signal wirelessly from the soundbar.

Dialogue and movie scenes with the Yamaha True X Bar 90A

SURROUND:AI analyzes the content being played and adapts the sound field effects to dialogue, music, and ambient sounds. Clear Voice can also be enabled when voices are difficult to understand.

For music, stereo playback and various upmixers are also available. This allows you to choose between the original sound and immersive processing.

Streaming and your own music with the Yamaha True X Bar 90A

Between movie nights, the system becomes a music system: MusicCast provides access to streaming services and connects compatible devices for multi-room playback. The system is operated using the MusicCast Controller app.

AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth offer additional ways to stream from a mobile device to the soundbar. Files from a media server on the home network can also be played; the network connection is made via Wi-Fi or LAN.

TVs and players connected to the Yamaha True X Bar 90A

A TV with eARC or ARC is connected to the soundbar via the appropriate HDMI port. When HDMI control is enabled, compatible TV remotes can control the volume and power the system on and off.

An external player can be connected to the HDMI input; the video is then sent to the TV. Alternatively, a digital optical input is available, although it does not support Dolby Atmos transmission.

Placement and expansion of the Yamaha True X Bar 90A

The soundbar can be placed in front of the TV or mounted on the wall using the included mounting brackets.

If you also want rear surround speakers, you can choose the Yamaha True X Surround 90A bundle. This includes two True X Speaker 3A speakers and matching charging bases. The True X Bar 90A item offered here includes only the soundbar and the external subwoofer as the main components.
