Sealed Dual 12-inch Subwoofer Concept
The ELAC Varro DS1200-GB is a dual reference active subwoofer with a sealed enclosure and two oppositely mounted 12-inch woofers. This design is engineered for clean, balanced, and precise bass with very low distortion, making it suitable for demanding movie and music playback.
Recommended Room Size and Placement
The VARRO DS 1200 subwoofer is ideal for medium to large rooms. For a 12-inch subwoofer like this, the recommended room size is approximately 20 m² to 40 m². For precise bass reproduction, we also recommend placing the subwoofer about 10 to 15 cm away from the wall to avoid boomy and imprecise bass.
App Control with Automatic Room Calibration
ELAC is a pioneer in app control for active subwoofers. The ELAC Varro DS1200-GB works with the Sub Control 3.0 app for iOS and Android, allowing direct control of multiple subwoofers via smartphone or tablet. The automatic room calibration uses the smartphone's microphone to adapt playback to the room, making placement more flexible.
Integrated DSP and EQ Functions
In the ELAC Varro DS1200-GB, a DualCore (28-bit DSP with 147 MHz) processes the audio signal with high accuracy and low latency. Auto EQ and automatic room correction are also included to reduce disruptive room influences on bass reproduction. This facilitates adaptation to different placement locations.
Wireless-ready with Optional AirX2 Transmitter
The ELAC Varro DS1200-GB has an integrated wireless receiver and is prepared for operation with the optional ELAC AirX2 transmitter. This allows up to three Reference subwoofers to be connected wirelessly simultaneously.
Highly Flexible Connection and Integration Options
On the rear panel, balanced XLR inputs, RCA line inputs with Left and Right/LFE, speaker inputs, a 12-volt trigger, a USB service port for firmware updates, and an Ethernet port for control are available. This allows the ELAC Varro DS1200-GB to be integrated into various hi-fi and home theater setups.
Elaborately Braced Enclosure for Controlled Bass
The enclosure is acoustically optimized, internally braced and damped to reduce unwanted resonances. This is complemented by the opposing arrangement of the two woofers, which further reduces cabinet vibrations.
Precise, Controlled Sound
The HEX technology of the surround is designed for linear excursion, while the aluminum sandwich woofer combines stiffness and internal damping. This allows the ELAC Varro DS1200-GB to play controlled, deep, and precise even at high levels, remaining balanced for both movie sound and music.
