Description
Reference DAC and SACD/CD Player in One
The McIntosh MCD12000 is more than a classic CD player: It combines a high-quality digital-to-analog converter with SACD/CD playback. Music from disc or via the digital inputs is processed in the device and then sent analog to a preamplifier, integrated amplifier, or other control component.
Two DACs for Two Channels
Inside, two DACs operate, one for each of the left and right audio channels. The DACs are configured in Octal-Balanced-Mono mode. Separate digital and analog power supplies isolate power and audio signals, while the specially designed R-Core power transformer reduces interference radiation.
Hybrid Drive™ with Tube and Solid-State Outputs
The MCD12000 offers you two output options for analog output: via tube technology or via solid-state technology. Both variants are available symmetrically via XLR and unsymmetrically via RCA. This allows the player to be flexibly integrated into high-quality Hi-Fi systems – matching your existing components, the respective music, and your personal listening preference.
Flexible Integration of Digital Sources
With seven digital inputs, the MCD12000 is broadly equipped: two coaxial inputs, two optical inputs, USB Type B, AES/EBU, and MCT. The coaxial and optical inputs support up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, the USB input supports up to 32-bit / 384 kHz, as well as DSD512 and DXD384 kHz. Additionally, a coaxial and an optical digital output are available.
Disc and File Playback
In addition to SACD, CD, and CD-R/RW, the MCD12000 also plays DVD data discs and common file formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD up to DSD128, FLAC, MP3, WAV, and WMA. Disc playback uses a twin-beam laser, a precise die-cast aluminum tray, and a digital servo for fast, quiet, and accurate drive operation.
Everyday Operation
Operation is performed directly on the device via buttons and rotary controls for input selection, disc layer, drive control, display, and setup menu. A remote control is included. The output level indicators respond to the played signal; the volume is not controlled on the MCD12000, but on the connected preamplifier, integrated amplifier, or control unit.
Placement and Integration
The MCD12000 can be placed on a table or shelf or built into furniture or a cabinet. For installation, the specified ventilation clearances are important (datasheet).
Roon Tested and McIntosh System Integration
The DAC of the MCD12000 is Roon Tested. Power Control and data connections enable integration with other McIntosh system components. We would be happy to advise you in our specialist shop on a suitable combination with your existing devices.
