Description
Global Media Compatibility Without Limitations
The Magnetar UDP 800 MKII (Code & Region Free) offers all the technical features of the standard model, supplemented by a hardware modification to lift regional playback restrictions. This allows media from all global regions to be played, making it the ideal solution for collectors of international film imports.
Region Free Functionality
Thanks to the integrated modification, the following standards are supported:
- Blu-ray Regions A, B, and C: Seamless playback of discs from the USA, Europe, or Asia.
- DVD Zones 1 to 6: Full compatibility with the global DVD standard. Region selection is easily done via the remote control. As 4K UHD Blu-rays inherently have no region code, they are played back in the highest quality, as are SACDs.
Architecture and MKII Advantages
Technically, the device is based on the current MKII platform. This includes HDMI TMDS Retiming for jitter-free digital audio output and a mechanically additionally dampened drive. The internal cabling consists of high-purity copper to minimize signal loss. With support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a high-quality DAC section, this player offers maximum flexibility while maintaining reference-level performance.
Universal Playback at a High-End Level
The Magnetar UDP 800 MKII is a powerful universal disc player designed for precise playback of 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, SACD, CD, and DVD-Audio. The device serves as a central interface in home cinema and Hi-Fi systems, processing both physical media and digital file formats via network (DLNA) or USB.
Picture and Sound Technical Features
The video section supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR formats for accurate representation of contrast ranges and color spaces. In the audio section, Magnetar uses two Burr-Brown PCM 1795 D/A converters. The device offers balanced XLR outputs for high-quality stereo connections as well as gold-plated RCA connectors. A solid metal casing ensures the necessary stability and minimizes external vibrations.
Technical Evolution of the MKII Generation
Compared to the first generation (MKI), the MKII model offers targeted optimizations in signal processing:
- HDMI Audio Retiming: A new TMDS function on the dedicated HDMI audio output significantly reduces jitter timing errors.
- Isolated USB Interface: The USB 3.0 ports are galvanically isolated and equipped with stabilized hub chips to prevent interference during data transmission.
- Analog Stage Upgrade: The use of seven OPA1602 operational amplifiers improves linearity and lowers the noise floor.
- Smart Integration: The device is Roon Ready and supports control via Control4 or Crestron.
