The Magnetar UDP 800 MKII is a powerful universal disc player designed for the precise playback of 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, SACD, and CD, as well as DVD-Audio. The device serves as a central interface in home cinema and hi-fi systems, handling both physical media and digital file formats via network (DLNA) or USB.
Picture and Sound Technical Features
The video section supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR formats for accurate reproduction of contrast ranges and color spaces. In the audio section, Magnetar uses two Burr-Brown PCM 1795 D/A converters. The device offers balanced XLR outputs for high-quality stereo connections and gold-plated RCA connectors. A solid metal casing ensures the necessary stability and minimizes external vibrations.
Technical Evolution of the MKII Generation
Compared to the first generation (MKI), the MKII model offers targeted optimizations in signal processing:
- HDMI Audio Retiming: A new TMDS function on the dedicated HDMI audio output significantly reduces jitter timing errors.
- Isolated USB Interface: The USB 3.0 ports are galvanically isolated and equipped with stabilized hub chips to prevent interference during data transmission.
- Analog Stage Upgrade: The use of seven OPA1602 operational amplifiers improves linearity and lowers the noise level.
- Smart Integration: The device is Roon Ready and supports control via Control4 or Crestron.
