Marantz MCR 60n DAB

The Marantz MCR 60n DAB is a compact all-in-one Hi-Fi system with integrated amplification, CD playback, network streaming and a DAB+ tuner.

It serves as a central music and TV audio solution when you want to use multiple sources but do not want to set up a large component system.

The system is suitable for living rooms, studies, bedrooms and dedicated listening rooms.

What makes the Marantz MCR 60n DAB special:

• Compact Hi-Fi hub: The MCR 60n DAB combines an amplifier, CD player, streaming, DAB+ radio, TV connection and phono MM in a single device.
• HDMI eARC for TV audio: Compatible TVs can be connected, including volume control via HDMI-CEC.
• HEOS streaming and Roon Ready: Network streaming, internet radio and HEOS multi-room can be used via a current streaming platform.
• Flexible speaker configuration: Bi-amp, parallel BTL and speaker A+B allow adaptation to different speaker and zone concepts.
• Expandable with a subwoofer and Dirac Live: A configurable subwoofer output and optional Dirac Live room correction help adapt the system to the room and setup.

A hub for digital and analog sources

The Marantz MCR 60n DAB is ideal for customers who want to combine a CD collection, streaming, radio, TV audio and vinyl records in a compact system.

A phono MM input with a ground connection is available for turntables. It is suitable for turntables without integrated phono preamplification or for devices where the built-in phono EQ is switched off.

The MCR 60n DAB can also be used as an all-in-one stereo preamplifier via the audio outputs. Depending on the setting, these outputs operate in fixed or variable mode, for example for active speakers, existing Marantz components or older Hi-Fi systems.

TV audio via HDMI eARC

The MCR 60n DAB can be connected to compatible TVs via HDMI eARC.

The volume can be controlled with the TV remote control via HDMI-CEC. The device also supports the decoding of Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus.

With eARC, the audio output settings on the TV do not need to be adjusted manually. With ARC, the TV output must be set to PCM.

Streaming and operation via HEOS

For network streaming, the MCR 60n DAB uses the latest generation of HEOS.

It supports high-resolution music files up to PCM 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD 11.2 MHz, as well as streaming services, internet radio, HEOS multi-room playback, Spotify, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and AirPlay 2.

Setup is carried out via the HEOS app. The device is connected to the Wi-Fi, assigned to a room and then made available for streaming.

With Smart Selects, you can save up to four preferred system configurations. Sources, volume, sound and playback settings can then be accessed directly via the remote control, the top of the device or the HEOS app.

Speakers, subwoofer and room correction

The MCR 60n DAB has four amplifier channels and an output power of 65 watts per channel at 4 ohms.

If your speakers support bi-amping, the bi-amp mode is designed for this. If the connected pair of speakers does not support bi-amping, parallel BTL is the recommended setting.

Alternatively, two pairs of speakers or two separate listening zones can be operated via a single amplifier. The speaker terminals are arranged horizontally, which is intended to simplify connection compared to stacked terminals.

The subwoofer output offers an adjustable crossover frequency from 30 Hz to 250 Hz in 10 Hz steps. Subwoofer on/off and level can be set via the HEOS app or the setup menu on the device.

Dirac Live room correction is available as an optional upgrade and requires a license. The function is designed to adapt to room acoustic effects such as reflections, channel imbalances and standing waves.

Bluetooth for playback and headphones

The Bluetooth function of the MCR 60n DAB works in both directions.

You can send music from a smartphone to the system or transmit the system's audio signal to compatible Bluetooth headphones, for example for music or TV audio.

Compact design for living spaces

Measuring 280 x 111 x 303 mm, the MCR 60n DAB remains compact enough for a sideboard, shelf or desk.

Pros and cons at a glance:

Ideal for

• Customers looking for a compact Hi-Fi hub with an amplifier, streaming, CD and radio.
• Living rooms, studies, bedrooms and dedicated listening rooms.
• Systems where TV audio is to be integrated into a stereo system via HDMI eARC.
• Setups with a turntable and MM cartridge or turntables without active phono preamplification.
• Customers who want to flexibly operate passive speakers or connect active speakers via the audio outputs.

Less suitable for

• Turntables with an MC cartridge, unless a suitable external phono solution is used.
• Customers who want to use Dirac Live room correction without an additional license.
• Systems that require more than one optical digital input.

Conclusion

The Marantz MCR 60n DAB is a compact all-in-one solution for customers who want to combine classic Hi-Fi sources, modern streaming and TV audio in a single device.

Its strength lies in its broad system integration with passive speakers, active speakers, subwoofers, turntables and HEOS streaming.

Before purchasing, you should note that Dirac Live requires a license and the phono input is designed for MM.
