At the heart of the YH-5000SE is the advanced ORTHODYNAMIC™ driver. The specially etched thin-film diaphragm, with a metal spiral structure and concentric corrugations, is extremely light, dimensionally stable, and incredibly responsive. The absence of a rigid central structure and magnetic materials in close proximity reduces discoloration and distortion – for an authentic, clear, yet smooth sound across the entire frequency spectrum.

Large, Open Casing with Stainless Steel Braided Mesh

The large-volume, open casing fully encloses the ear, providing optimal operating conditions for the diaphragm. Airflow is ideally guided, back-chamber reflections are minimized, and unwanted resonances are effectively suppressed. A smooth, Japanese-made braided stainless steel mesh filter precisely regulates internal pressure, while an arched elevation acts as a reflector. This creates realistic timbres, exceptional soundstage depth, and controlled, precise bass.

Finest Dynamics Thanks to Ultralight Thin-Film Diaphragm

The diaphragm is structured on both sides with a unique voice coil pattern and combined with micro-perforation air dampers. This allows it to follow musical impulses with extreme precision – from the finest details to powerful outbursts. The music remains dynamic, lively, yet controlled, with a fully articulated bass range without bloat.

Two Earpad Characteristics for Your Favorite Sound

For a perfect fit and individual sound preference, two high-quality earpad sets are included:

• Leather Earpads: Sheepskin leather on the contact surface, combined with perforated synthetic leather and mesh – for clear, defined imaging, precise soundstage, and excellent ventilation.
• Suede Earpads (Ultrasuede®): Luxurious, suede-like high-tech material with a warm, soft sound and maximum long-term comfort – ideal for hours of deep immersion in music.

This allows you to adjust the wearing comfort and sound character according to your taste and application.

Silver-Plated OFC Cables for Highest Signal Purity

The YH-5000SE comes with two braided, silver-plated OFC cables – for maximum flexibility:

• 3.5mm cable (unbalanced, 3-pole) incl. 6.3mm screw adapter
• 4.4mm cable (balanced, 5-pole) for compatible headphone amplifiers

The precise braiding reduces crosstalk and keeps losses in the signal path minimal. The result: clear mids and highs, precise imaging, and powerful, clean bass with excellent spatial extension.

Lightweight Magnesium Housing & Perfect Wearing Comfort

The housing frame is made of magnesium – extremely rigid, yet very light, and with excellent vibration damping. Weighing only approx. 320 g (without cable), the YH-5000SE is comfortable to wear even during long sessions.
The two-layer headband with stainless steel arch optimally distributes the contact pressure, while the three-dimensionally stitched head cushion evenly distributes the pressure on the head. The continuously adjustable slider and the obliquely mounted swivel mechanism of the earcups ensure precise adjustment and a sealed, comfortable fit without air leakage.

Design, Manufacturing & Warranty at Grand Piano Level

The open back is protected by a triaxial mesh material, also used in aerospace – functional, robust, and visually high-quality. All components are designed for functional beauty: a minimalist, timeless design that visibly reflects the dynamics of music.
The YH-5000SE is manufactured at the Yamaha Kakegawa factory in Japan – the same production facility where Yamaha flagship grand pianos and high-end audio components are created. Strict quality controls ensure that only perfect units are delivered. Through product registration, the warranty can be extended to a total of up to 5 years (2+3 years).
