Description
Sealed cabinet for controlled reproduction
The sealed cabinet operates without bass reflex ports and is designed for accuracy, fast response, and defined bass.
Powerful 13-inch driver
The front-firing 13-inch long-throw driver is engineered for high excursion and high control. The combination of an aluminum cone, powerful ferrite magnet motor, and robust suspension supports deep frequencies with clean diaphragm movement.
Integrated Sledge Class D amplifier
As an active subwoofer, the SB-3000 R|Evolution features an integrated Sledge Class D amplifier. It is directly matched to the driver, cabinet, and DSP, eliminating the need for a separate subwoofer amplifier.
Control via app and OLED control panel
The SVS Subwoofer Control App allows operation via Apple iOS, Google Android, and Amazon Fire. Adjustable settings include volume, low-pass filter, phase, polarity, six parametric EQs, room gain compensation, presets, and power management.
On the rear panel, an OLED display with buttons provides access to the most important functions. This allows central settings to be checked and changed directly on the device.
Connecting the subwoofer: via cable, LFE, or optional wireless
Connecting the subwoofer in home cinema systems is achieved with a single RCA or XLR connection cable from the SUB1 or LFE output of the AV receiver to the LFE input of the SB-3000 R|Evolution. This allows the AV receiver to handle bass management and send a pre-processed mono signal to the subwoofer.
The SB-3000 R|Evolution can also be integrated into stereo systems via cable. For this purpose, left and right line-level inputs via RCA as well as balanced XLR inputs are available.
For installations without a long audio cable, the SVS SoundPath Wireless Audio Adapter is provided. This adapter is sold separately and can be powered via the subwoofer's USB port.
Subwoofer placement in the room
A position at the front of the room, between or next to the front speakers, usually supports good integration with main speakers and the center channel. Placement on a side wall is less common but can also be an effective solution.
A corner can make bass particularly effective and reduce the likelihood of bass cancellations. At the same time, corner placement can lead to boomy bass depending on the listening position.
What room size is the subwoofer suitable for?
The subwoofer performs best in a room size of 15 to 40 square meters. We also recommend a minimum distance of 15 to 30 cm from the wall to fully exploit its acoustic potential.
Should a subwoofer stand on the floor?
The SVS SB-3000 R|Evolution is equipped with screwed-in Iso-elastomer feet. These feet improve stability and reduce noise artifacts, which is why floor placement is a natural choice in the product context.
Active or passive subwoofer: What is better?
The SB-3000 R|Evolution is an active subwoofer because amplifier, DSP, and driver are combined in one device. This is particularly practical for home cinema and stereo use, as no separate power amplifier needs to be selected and matched.
Whether an active or passive subwoofer is better cannot be generally determined without a specific system. The tuned combination of a 13-inch driver, 1200-watt RMS amplifier, DSP control, and app operation speaks for this SVS subwoofer.
When is a subwoofer worth it?
A subwoofer is particularly worthwhile when home cinema, music, or stereo playback should have more depth, more foundation, and a more precise bass base. The SB-3000 R|Evolution reaches down to 17 Hz, covering deep frequencies that many speaker systems alone cannot reproduce in this way.
In small to medium-sized rooms, an even deeper extension of 2 to 3 Hz is to be expected. This makes the subwoofer suitable for living rooms where controlled deep bass with relatively compact dimensions is desired.
Robust cabinet and living-room-friendly finishes
The MDF cabinet construction with internal bracing is designed for low-resonance performance at high volume. The extra-thick ABS grille frame with fabric covering protects the driver.
The SVS SB-3000 R|Evolution is available in Premium Black Ash, Piano Gloss Black, and Piano Gloss White. This allows the subwoofer to be visually integrated into various living and home cinema environments.
