Description
Matrix Audio TT-1: Network Player for Your Digital Hi-Fi System
The Matrix Audio TT-1 is a network music player that streams music from streaming services and your own file collection to your hi-fi system. It connects to an amplifier with a suitable digital input or to a separate digital-to-analog converter (DAC), which converts the digital music data into an analog audio signal.
Matrix Audio TT-1 Features at a Glance
- Music selection: Access streaming services and your own music files through a single playback platform.
- Operation: Select music using the app, as well as playback controls and track information on the touch display.
- System connection: Various digital outputs for existing converters and amplifiers.
- Your own collection: Connect storage via USB or install a suitable SSD in the device.
Streaming and Music Collection with the Matrix Audio TT-1
Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Qobuz Connect enable playback from the respective services. AirPlay 2 and integration into a Roon system are also supported.
An existing music library on network storage, i.e., a file storage accessible on the home network, can also be integrated. The connection to the router can be made via network cable or Wi-Fi; a wired connection is recommended for high-resolution music.
Selecting and Controlling Music on the Matrix Audio TT-1
With the MA Remote app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, you can select music and change device settings. The touch display shows album covers, track titles, and artists, as well as playback controls and access to favorites.
Connecting the Matrix Audio TT-1 to Your System
Optical and coaxial digital outputs, as well as AES/EBU, connect the player to suitable digital inputs. A dedicated USB-DAC output is available for an external USB converter; the additional IIS-LVDS output is designed for expressly compatible converters and uses an HDMI cable, but is not a standard HDMI connection for televisions.
The music formats that can be output depend on the selected connection and the connected converter. Active speakers with a compatible digital input can also be connected directly. For this connection, the TT-1's digital volume control can be enabled.
Expanding Your Own File Collection on the Matrix Audio TT-1
USB ports accept music from external storage. A separately available, suitable NVMe SSD can be installed in the compartment on the bottom; your music files can then also be managed from a computer on the same network.
With a separately available USB CD drive, the player also supports CD playback and CD ripping. A drive and an SSD are not included in the standard delivery.
Matrix Audio TT-1 and NT-1 Comparison
Unlike the larger NT-1, the TT-1 offers Wi-Fi and an additional input for an external power supply. The NT-1, in turn, features an internal linear power supply, an electrically isolated USB-DAC output, an SFP network slot, and an input for an external clock source.
| Feature | Matrix Audio TT-1 | Matrix Audio NT-1 |
|---|---|---|
| Network connectivity | Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 6 | Gigabit LAN and SFP slot for suitable network modules |
| Power supply | Internal switching power supply; connection for a suitable external 12-V DC power supply (available separately; please observe the manufacturer's specifications) | Internal linear power supply with toroidal transformer |
| USB connection to the converter | Separate USB-DAC output optimized for audio | USB-DAC output with electrical isolation and separate power supply |
| Clocking | Two internal femto clocks | Internal clock and input for an external 10-MHz clock source |
| Dimensions (W × D × H) | 28 × 21 × 8.2 cm | 33 × 26.7 × 9.7 cm |
Suitability and Important Notes for the Matrix Audio TT-1
Who is the Matrix Audio TT-1 for?
- Anyone who wants to add network music playback to an existing system with a digital input.
- Anyone who wants to use streaming and their own digital music collection together.
Important Notes for the Matrix Audio TT-1
- The TT-1 does not have an integrated digital-to-analog converter or analog audio outputs; therefore, it cannot be connected directly to analog amplifier inputs.
- Use the device only indoors and leave at least 5 cm of space all around for ventilation.
Conclusion
The Matrix Audio TT-1 is suitable for systems where the existing converter is to be continued using. It complements network music playback without replacing the analog part of the system.
