Description
The DT-3600 Power Conditioner is designed for powering high-end and Hi-Fi equipment. The main elements of the device are two balanced toroidal transformers 230 VAC/115 + 115 VAC, designed and developed by Audes, which isolate the device from the domestic network.
The two transformers are referred to as the main transformer and group 2 transformer and have a nominal power of 3300 VA and 300 VA respectively. Such a design allows connecting low-power devices and devices with a switched-mode power supply (SMPS) to the separate group 2 transformer. SMPS can cause distortions that can negatively affect analog devices if connected to the same power source. Devices connected to group 1 sockets are isolated from devices connected to group 2 sockets.
The DT-3600's sockets are completely isolated from the mains. The output voltages are symmetrical to the artificial center tap, which is connected to the earth contacts of each socket. The toroidal transformers inside the device have been designed to filter interference from the mains through controlled stray inductance and capacitance. The transformers have a very low output impedance, allowing the device to easily deliver large current surges up to the maximum power in each socket while maintaining the nominal voltage.
When the Power Conditioner is switched on, the transformers are subjected to a high inrush current during the magnetization of the transformer core. Therefore, a soft start is implemented in the Power Conditioner. The model has a special resistor to limit the inrush current, so that other electrical devices connected to the same power grid remain unaffected.
Despite the considerable nominal power of such transformers, the design of the Power Conditioner minimizes harmful electromagnetic radiation. Nevertheless, do not place the Power Conditioner near turntables and phono preamplifiers.
The model has an integrated DC Blocker. The DC Blocker protects the Power Conditioner from harmful effects of DC current present in the mains. This significantly reduces transformer hum due to a DC offset in the mains. If the mains to which the Power Conditioner is connected does not have DC current, no DC Blocker is required. In the manufacturer's default state, the DT-3600's DC Blocker is switched off, but the user can decide to switch it on. To switch on the DC Blocker, use the corresponding button on the rear panel. The same button is also used to switch off the DC Blocker.
