With the AT-VM670xSP, Audio-Technica presents a high-quality dual moving
magnet cartridge, specifically developed for playing mono records at 78
rpm.
As with all cartridges in the VMx series, this model also
adheres to Audio-Technica's patented dual-magnet technology,
which is modeled after the design of a cutting head for vinyl master records.
Two precisely positioned magnets mirror the geometry of the groove walls
and ensure precise tracking with impressive channel separation and
clarity.
The mono housing of the AT-VM670xSP features internal wiring of the left and right channels, which reduces typical background noise and creates a stable, centered sound image. This results in a rich, focused sound and a particularly realistic reproduction of monaural recordings – far more natural than would be possible with stereo systems.
The heart of the system is the para-toroidal generator, whose dual PCUHD® (Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability) copper coils offer particularly high efficiency. Due to the reduced number of turns, the cartridge responds faster to signal changes and ensures transparent, lively reproduction – "as if it were live."
The conical, bonded stylus with a 3.0 mil radius was specifically developed for the wider grooves of old 78 rpm records. It tracks reliably and precisely, minimizes distortion, and enables detailed reproduction of various recording eras. The low-resonance polymer housing provides stability and reduces vibrations, while the hollow aluminum cantilever ensures precise, dynamic tracking.
Thanks to the integrated threaded inserts, the AT-VM670xSP is easy to mount – ideal for headshells or integrated tonearms. The V-shaped cutout in the stylus guard offers a clear view of the stylus and facilitates precise lowering onto the record.
