ODNF*, a unique feedback system that has matured into an epoch-making amplifier innovation, provides the natural sound quality of an amplifier not equipped with feedback by only feeding back the distorted components of the amplified signal. In 2021, during the development of the M-10X flagship power amplifier, Luxman provided LIFES as a new amplifier feedback engine to achieve a more realistic, fresher, and richer musicality and overwhelming audio performance, and it is now the core of the C-10X flagship control amplifier, the first model upgrade in 10 years. For volume control, Luxman has further developed its electronically controlled attenuator LECUA, which switches a series of fixed resistors arranged in the circuit. LECUA-EX, which reads the motion pulses of a rotary encoder completely separate from the audio signal path, thoroughly suppresses sound quality degradation and enables smooth volume control. The LIFES preamplifier circuit is constructed with custom-made components and directly connected to the LECUA-EX system, with the four units arranged in a fully symmetrical configuration in completely identical operating conditions to achieve the ideal structure as a preamplifier.
Various control functions for managing the audio system
As a flagship model at the top of Luxman's product range, the C-10X not only features a powerful preamplifier circuit that reliably drives the power amplifiers connected in the subsequent stage, but also a variety of functions as a control center that allows the entire audio system environment to be customized. The gain of the preamplifier has been increased to 15 dB (the predecessor C-900u had 12 dB), allowing a wide range of levels from various input sources to be processed without distortion. In addition to a variety of output mode switching functions that allow you to choose an unbalanced, balanced, or bi-amplified configuration depending on the system, you can also use the volume shift function in 0.5 dB increments via the electronically controlled LECUA-EX main volume control system. This allows you to adjust the left and right balance (L: -6dB to R: -6dB) without causing degradation, set the level for each output system in bi-amping mode (±6dB for each system), and adjust the output level for various listening situations. In addition, it features an input offset function (0 to -6 dB for each input terminal) that allows you to equalize the levels of multiple input devices, resulting in a variety of control functions despite the simple circuit configuration.
Panel configuration with beautiful contrast
The C-10X features bold and delicate slanted edges between the chassis and front panel. The three-dimensional and sensual housing design, common to both the M-10X and D-10X, embodies the overwhelming presence and high musicality of a flagship model. The finely milled, hairline-finished aluminum cover provides a beautiful contrast to the sandblasted white front panel.
Fluorescent display with excellent visibility
The fluorescent display has a dimming function and illuminates against the sandblasted white front panel with excellent visibility. We also considered making it easy to read from the listening position. Normally, the input and output volume are displayed here, but the volume display can be enlarged to four times its size via the remote control. In addition, the status of various function switches can be checked with LED indicators inside the acrylic panel.
Versatile functions and easy-to-use remote control
The C-10X features an electronically controlled bass/treble control, a volume-dependent loudness function that corresponds to human hearing characteristics, and an external preamplifier connection that can be connected directly to the preamplifier output of an AV amplifier. A preset function for the balanced connection phase, which can be set independently, is available. Also included is an aluminum remote control that allows most C-10X functions to be conveniently operated at your fingertips.
Newly developed weighted rotary mechanism
The LECUA-EX volume control combines a high-precision rotary encoder with a newly developed weighted rotary mechanism to achieve high reliability and a high-quality feel when rotating the large, machined aluminum knob over 192 discrete steps from 0 to 95.5 dB. A tactile adjustment that smoothly accelerates the increase/decrease of volume by increasing the rotation speed or pressing and holding the remote control ensures comfortable volume operation that surpasses conventional volume devices with variable resistors.
