For decades, Luxman has been developing tube amplifiers, with many models achieving cult status. It all started with the SQ-5A in 1961! The CL-38uC and MQ-88uC are the latest models and perfectly continue this tradition.
Outwardly, they evoke golden hifi eras (the preamp's ancestor, the CL-35, dates from 1970, and the MQ-60 even from 1969!), while their inner values showcase a mix of proven circuit concepts and the best components. Due to their relatively simple circuitry, tube amplifiers are significantly influenced by the quality of individual components. Therefore, LUXMAN uses in-house developed high-quality transformers and capacitors.
The SRPP (Shunt Regulated Push Pull) circuit of the CL-38uC, used for the phono preamplifier section, the tone control section, and the amplifier section, ensures a linear frequency response and offers further advantages, such as low output impedance (300 ohms), low distortion, and extended tube life.
The balanced input jacks of the CL-38uC feature special transformers, which improves integration with other high-end devices. The built-in phono preamplifier is compatible with MM and MC cartridges and is equipped with step-up transformers for MC cartridges and an independent two-stage gain selector switch. The three-stage switchable crossover frequencies for bass and treble controls allow the listener to adjust the signal to the desired sound character.
The CL-38uC comes with a compact aluminum remote control, allowing convenient volume adjustment from the listening position.
