Pro-Ject Debut Reference 10
The Pro-Ject Debut Reference 10 is the highest quality model in the legendary Debut series and marks the current pinnacle of Pro-Ject's philosophy: maximum sound quality through consistently reduced, acoustically optimized design. As the ultimate evolution of the Debut PRO B, it combines state-of-the-art materials, precise manufacturing, and advanced motor and tonearm technology.
Chassis & Construction
The 8-layer hand-painted MDF chassis forms a highly stable base and rests on three height-adjustable aluminum feet with TPE damping. These ensure optimal decoupling and effectively prevent acoustic feedback. Diamond-cut aluminum parts – including the bearing block, speed selector, feet, and counterweight – not only give the Reference 10 a noble finish but also exceptional durability and precision.
Platter & Bearing
The 300mm acrylic main platter reduces resonances to a minimum. The record can rest directly on the acrylic material, without a felt mat. The sub-platter made of diamond-cut aluminum allows for extremely tight manufacturing tolerances, increases mass, and thereby improves running smoothness and speed accuracy. The platter bearing consists of a high-precision stainless steel axle in a custom-fit bronze bushing.
Drive & Motor Control
The precise belt drive works with an electronically controlled motor drive that generates a clean, stable sine wave. This ensures that wow and flutter as well as speed remain precise and constant. A switch allows convenient switching between 33 and 45 rpm; an additional round belt for 78 rpm is included. The motor suspension has been newly developed and is now significantly better damped to reliably prevent structure-borne sound transmission.
Tonearm & Cartridge
The one-piece 10-inch carbon-aluminum hybrid tonearm combines high stiffness (carbon) with effective resonance damping (aluminum). It is fully adjustable – including VTA and azimuth – allowing precise adaptation to cartridges and platter mats. The mounted Pick it PRO Balanced is the world's first True-Balanced compatible MM cartridge. In combination with a balanced mini-XLR cable and a Pro-Ject phono preamplifier from the "True Balanced" series, the system can be operated completely symmetrically, effectively eliminating interference and noise.
Connections & Practical Use
The Debut Reference 10 offers both gold-plated RCA outputs and a balanced mini-XLR output. A high-quality semi-balanced phono cable is included. The included acrylic dust cover holds securely in any position and can be easily removed if necessary. Thanks to its precise manufacturing, modular design, and fine adjustment options, the Reference 10 is ideal for ambitious vinyl listeners looking for an audiophile and sustainable solution.
