SVS SB-3000: Active Subwoofer for Home Cinema and Hi-Fi
Deep Bass for Movies,
Music, and Demanding Systems
With a frequency response of 18 to 270 Hz ± 3 dB, the SVS SB-3000 covers very deep frequencies. This makes film soundtracks, bass drums, electronic music, and low-frequency effects more physical and complete in their reproduction.
Sealed Enclosure
for Precise Bass Reproduction
The sealed enclosure design supports controlled and accurate bass reproduction. This is particularly important for music and demanding home cinema systems, because the subwoofer not only delivers level but should also be seamlessly integrated with the main speakers.
13-inch Driver with
High Excursion
The 13-inch driver radiates forward and is designed for high excursion. The split-wind voice coil, ferrite magnets, the cast aluminum basket, and the precisely manufactured motor elements are designed for powerful deep bass and controlled membrane movement.
Built-in Sledge Amplifier
The integrated Sledge STA-800D2 amplifier provides high performance. This means the SVS SB-3000 has sufficient power reserves for dynamic bass peaks in movie sound and music.
Control via App and directly
on the Device
The subwoofer can be adjusted via the SVS Bluetooth DSP control app for iOS and Android. Volume, low-pass, phase, polarity, Room Gain Compensation, and three parametric equalizers can be adjusted to the room and the system .
Alternatively, the subwoofer can be operated via the Intelligent Control Interface (ICI) on the back. Volume, low-pass filter, and phase can be adjusted here, among other things.
Connecting Subwoofers:
LFE, RCA, and Stereo
In home cinema systems, the SVS SB-3000 is typically connected via an RCA cable from the LFE or SUB1 output of the AV receiver to the LFE input of the subwoofer . The AV receiver then handles bass management and sends a pre-filtered mono signal to the subwoofer.
For stereo systems with a preamplifier or stereo receiver, the left and right line-level outputs can be connected to the left and right RCA line-level inputs of the SB-3000. In this case, the low-pass filter on the subwoofer is activated and matched to the main speakers .
Correctly Setting Up a Subwoofer:
Volume, Low-Pass, and Phase
When used with an AV receiver, LFE mode, 0-degree phase, and subsequently the automatic calibration of the AV receiver are provided. If the subwoofer is repositioned, the calibration should be performed again.
In stereo systems without bass management, the subwoofer's volume is adjusted to the level of the main speakers. The low-pass filter determines up to which frequency the subwoofer plays, so that the transition between speakers and subwoofer sounds harmonious.
The phase setting helps to better align the subwoofer and speakers at the listening position in terms of time . This can be important if bass components in the transition range seem weaker or do not merge cleanly with the main speakers .
Can a Subwoofer Stand in
the Corner?
Corner placement is possible and can increase bass pressure and reduce dead spots in the room. At the same time, a corner can also amplify booming depending on the room.
If bass in the corner seems too dominant or unclear, the SVS SB-3000 can be moved further away from the walls. In addition, DSP functions, low-pass, phase, parametric EQ, and Room Gain Compensation help with adaptation to the listening room.
Where Should a Subwoofer
Not Be Placed?
A subwoofer should not be placed in a location where the bass at the listening position booms heavily, sounds thin, or individual frequencies are overemphasized. Even small changes in position in the room can significantly alter bass reproduction .
Locations near water, heat sources, or in tight, unventilated furniture are also unsuitable. Ventilation openings must remain clear so that the active subwoofer can operate reliably.
Front, Side Wall, or
Multiple Subwoofers
A position at the front of the room, between or next to the front speakers, can support a good blend with the main speakers and the center channel. Placement on the side wall is also possible and can be effective depending on the room .
Multiple subwoofers can improve the frequency response in the listening area, reduce room modes, reduce booming, and lower bass localization. The SVS SB-3000 offers RCA outputs to more easily integrate multiple subwoofers into a system .
Active or Passive
Subwoofer?
The SVS SB-3000 is an active subwoofer, because the amplifier, DSP, and control are integrated. This means no separate subwoofer amplifier is required.
How Useful is a
Subwoofer?
A subwoofer is useful if speakers are to be relieved and supplemented in the deep bass range. The SVS SB-3000 handles low frequencies that can be decisive for movie sound, music, and home cinema atmosphere.
The added value lies not only in more bass, but in controlled low-frequency reproduction. Correctly connected, suitably placed, and cleanly adjusted , the subwoofer complements the soundscape without unnecessarily drawing attention to itself.
Versions and
Living Room Integration
The SVS SB-3000 is available in Piano Gloss Black, Piano Gloss White, and Premium Black Ash. The compact, sealed enclosure with safety steel grille, MDF construction, and rubber feet is designed for stability, membrane protection, and living-room friendly placement.
