The ST-200 was developed to reduce unwanted noise and interference from the power supply that can degrade audio and video quality. The goal is a quiet, stable power base for AV components, allowing for a setup that can better fulfill its potential.

Compact Addition for Existing ST Setups

As a small power conditioner, the ST-200 complements larger models in the ST series, providing additional devices with separately isolated power – without the effort or cost of upgrading to a larger unit. It is suitable for components such as streamers, CD players, turntables, TVs, small digital amplifiers, and other devices, as long as the total load does not exceed 200 W or 200 V·A.

Separate Supply for SMPS Devices

In its role as an auxiliary device, the ST-200 offers a secondary transformer option for devices with switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). SMPS can, under certain circumstances, negatively impact sound quality, especially when such devices are connected to the same transformer as classic analog components – potential electrical distortions can become audible. The ST-200 provides a dedicated, isolated power source for this purpose, so that connected devices remain completely separated from the devices on the main power conditioner.

Toroidal Transformer as the Core of Isolation and Filtering

At its heart is a custom-made toroidal transformer (230 VAC / 230 VAC) developed by Audes. It ensures galvanic isolation from the mains power supply and filters out mains interference via controlled stray inductance and capacitance to effectively suppress introduced interference components.

Protection Concept for Safe Operation

The ST-200 is protected against overcurrent by a fuse: In case of overcurrent, the fuse trips and must be replaced before further use. Additionally, thermal protection is integrated: at 90 °C, the transformer switches off and automatically reconnects to the mains after cooling down to 75 °C.

Practical Handling in Everyday Use

The design minimizes electromagnetic radiation, yet it is recommended not to place the ST-200 near turntables or phono preamplifiers. When connecting, the socket orientation is not critical, as the outputs are galvanically isolated from the neutral conductor; for consistent results, a uniform orientation of all connected devices is recommended.

Included Power Cable and Cable Recommendation

Each ST-200 comes with a standard power cable. For further performance improvement, combining it with the Audes Power Cable C13 is recommended.
