Description
With the new 800 Series for its 60th anniversary, Bowers & Wilkins underscores its commitment to uncompromising perfection. The interplay of diamond tweeters, Space Frame Bracing, and proven developments from the Signature Series redefines audiophile peak performance.
Bowers & Wilkins 802 D5 – Reference standard
for stereo and home cinema
The 802 D5 was designed for reference-class stereo sound and impressive home cinema experiences. As the second-largest speaker in the 800 D5 series, it combines a sophisticated cabinet design with advanced driver technology and a clear focus on precision, control, and spatial imaging.
3-way bass reflex system with elaborate cabinet
The 802 D5 is designed as a 3-way bass reflex system. The improved Matrix™ design reduces resonances, while the aluminum frame bracing and aluminum cabinet top contribute to the stable construction. The shape of the cabinet follows a continuous curve and is stabilized by a solid aluminum back to reduce reflections within the cabinet.
Diamond tweeter with
Tweeter-on-Top
The diamond dome tweeter is housed in a firmly integrated Tweeter-on-Top enclosure. This construction supports particularly clear and precise high-frequency reproduction with an open sense of space. Fine details, voices, and acoustic nuances especially benefit from this design.
Continuum midrange driver
in a decoupled Turbine Head
For the midrange, the 802 D5 uses a Continuum™ diaphragm FST™ midrange driver in a decoupled Turbine Head. This allows voices and instruments to be reproduced with rich detail and vibrancy.
Controlled bass
from two 8-inch bass drivers
The two 8-inch Aerofoil™ diaphragm bass units are firmly installed in the Reverse-Wrap enclosure. This concept stands for controlled and precise bass reproduction and makes the speaker interesting even for demanding home cinema applications. A separate subwoofer is no longer strictly necessary.
Design and
finishes
The 802 D5 is available in Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut, and Dark Walnut. Depending on the cabinet finish, the matching grille is either black or grey. The Leather by Connolly upholstery is color-coordinated and underlines the high-quality claim of the 800 Diamond series.
Recommended room size
and distance
from the wall
We recommend a minimum room size of 25 square meters for this speaker. However, the speaker can also easily fill rooms over 50 square meters. The distance from the wall should be at least 50 cm to the back wall and side wall to prevent disturbing bass booming and to maintain precise spatial imaging. However, 1 meter or more is optimal.
