Description
Audiolab was founded in 1983 by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland. Their goal was to develop an affordable, excellent-sounding, and extremely reliable amplifier. The result was the legendary 8000A integrated amplifier, whose basic design was maintained until 2013 (8200A). The subsequent preamplifier, stereo power amplifier, and monoblocks also achieved cult status and became the workhorses for many international hi-fi magazines and broadcasting stations.
In Germany, Audiolab, distributed under the name Camtech, became one of the most successful British companies on the market. In 1998, TAG McLaren acquired Audiolab to gain a perfect foundation and maximum know-how for their entry into the world of consumer electronics. Development and manufacturing were absolutely perfected, and new AV components were developed that were often far ahead of their time and were considered absolute state-of-the-art products. However, these components also came with a corresponding price and became absolutely unaffordable for most hi-fi/AV enthusiasts. After only five years, TAG McLaren announced its withdrawal from the hi-fi/AV market to fully concentrate on its core competencies again. Since 2005, Audiolab has been part of the International Audio Group, which includes other legendary companies such as Wharfedale, Luxman, Mission, and Quad. The 8200 series, introduced in 2010, received countless international awards, particularly for the CD players and D/A converters developed by John Westlake.
Its basic design will also form the basis for the digital components in the 8300 series. However, the company is particularly proud of the 8300A, a completely newly developed integrated amplifier which, like its legendary ancestor the 8000A, will set new standards in its class in terms of sound quality, flexibility, and reliability.
