The ARCAM AVA35 is an audio video amplifier for demanding home theater and music systems. It combines multi-channel amplification, surround processing, HDMI processing, streaming and app control in one device. Dirac Live Room Correction is provided for the acoustic calibration of the AVA35. The included measurement microphone and the 5 m long USB-C cable are used for room measurement during Dirac Live calibration. Dirac Live Bass Control and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment are available as upgrade options. This area is particularly important because the room, speaker placement and seating position are crucial in a multi-channel system. We are happy to help with the calibration if required.

The ARCAM AVA35 offers seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs, two for Zone 1 and one for Zone 2. HDMI 2.1a with HDCP 2.3 supports resolutions up to 8K/60 Hz or 4K/120 Hz. HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Gaming, Dolby Vision and HLG are also supported, as are VRR, ALLM, CEC, eARC/ARC via Zone 1 Output 1 and On Screen Display. This means the AVA35 is broadly equipped for modern home theater sources, game consoles and TV connections.

The AVA35 works with the ARCAM Radia AV Control App for setup, control, internet radio, podcasts and UPnP playback. Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready, Apple Airplay and Google Cast are supported. For high-resolution media, FLAC, WAV, AAC, ALAC, AIFF, MP3 and OGG, 16 and 24 bit, sampling rates up to 192 kHz and gapless playback are available. Bluetooth 5.4 with Snapdragon Sound, Auracast and A2DP Sink/Source complements the wired and network-based options.

The AVA35 is designed for extensive system integration. For audio sources, two coaxial and two optical digital inputs as well as three analog RCA stereo pairs are available. The 16 RCA preamplifier outputs allow the connection of external power amplifiers, while nine pairs of speaker terminals output the integrated power amplifiers. Ethernet, USB-A, RS-232, trigger input and output for Zone 1 and Zone 2 pre-outs facilitate integration into larger systems.

The 6.5-inch high-resolution display shows status, input selection, internet radio presets, metadata as well as audio and system settings. Operation is via front buttons, the rotary encoder, the ARCAM Radia App and the illuminated Bluetooth remote control. The housing is black and features the yellow ring on the volume control, which is characteristic of the Radia optics. The rear panel cowl helps to visually calm cables and antennas on the rear connection panel.

The AVA35 should be placed on a flat, firm surface and protected from direct sunlight, moisture and heat sources. ARCAM points out that the device should not be operated in closed shelves or cabinets without good ventilation. In addition, no other device should be placed on the AVA35, as this can hinder the airflow to the heat sink.
