Description
The NAD C 558 is a belt-driven turntable for price-conscious vinyl fans. Its
solid, matte black chassis made of high-density MDF is effectively decoupled
from the surface by four rubber feet. The 10 millimeter thick platter is made
of glass, and the felt mat to be placed on it is included in the scope of
delivery. Power is supplied by a precision AC motor, which is provided with the
required operating voltage by a separate switched-mode power supply. The
turntable comes pre-assembled with a 9" tonearm TURNTABLE C 558
HIGH-QUALITY
MATERIALS
The C 558's low-resonance, precision-machined sub-platter is driven by the motor via a special flat rubber belt, with the platter resting on a hardened steel shaft, which in turn rests in a brass bearing. All parts of the C 558 have been carefully manufactured and selected to ensure maximum smooth running of the record.
Of course, every detail was carefully considered in the design and manufacture of the tonearm. With a length of 9", it combines maximum tracking stability with the highest possible rigidity and lowest mass. Furthermore, tracking force and azimuth can be adjusted manually for the most precise scanning possible, so that the record is played with as little distortion and wear as possible.
The solid chassis and the glass platter also protect against negative
influences such as vibrations and thus also contribute to extracting as much
music as possible from every record. The chassis is made of CNC milled MDF and
not, as is often the case in this price range, of particle board or plastic. The
dust cover is also made of low-resonance, heavy acrylic, with a special hinge
design allowing for virtually stepless opening of the cover.
