The attractive industrial design seamlessly combines form and function. The construction of the headband, built in layers of metal and plastic, keeps vibrations away from the earcups. Handcrafted microfiber ear pads provide exceptional wearing comfort for hours of listening pleasure.

Created to be perfect, the HD 800 and HD 800 S are manufactured with the highest precision in Germany — using the highest quality materials and components. The transducers are encased in stainless steel. The headband and earcup suspensions use advanced materials from the aerospace industry to ensure maximum stability and minimal weight simultaneously.

The HD 800 S Absorber Technology

The improved sound reproduction of the HD 800 S is achieved through the use of an innovative absorber technology, first used in the Sennheiser IE 800. This technology represents a true breakthrough because it preserves the audibility of very high frequencies by eliminating a phenomenon known as "masking effect." This effect refers to the difficulty of the human ear in perceiving high frequencies when they simultaneously reach the ear with lower frequencies of greater volume. By absorbing the energy of the resulting resonances, Sennheiser's patented absorber technology prevents unwanted peaks from occurring. In this way, all frequency ranges of the music remain perceptible — down to the finest nuance. This innovation was the decisive factor in making the IE 800 the best-sounding in-ear headphones in the world. In the HD 800 S, it provides even greater sound purity and precision.

These improvements are made audible by the magnificent 56 mm transducers — the largest ever used in dynamic headphones. The unique shape of the earcups guides the sound waves into the ear canal at a slight angle, thus providing an impressively natural and spacious listening experience.

Although much seems the same, the improved inner values are recognized by the striking new look of the HD 800 S, where the classic silver of the 2009 HD 800 is replaced by high-quality matte black.
