McIntosh LCR80 LCR Loudspeaker for Home Cinema and Hi-Fi

The McIntosh LCR80 is a sealed 3-way loudspeaker system with flexible placement. The speaker can be used horizontally, vertically, or on a shelf, and is designed for the left, center, or right channel in home cinema systems, as well as for dedicated stereo applications.

3-way design with five drivers

The loudspeaker system operates on a 3-way principle, where the frequency ranges for bass, midrange, and treble drivers are cleanly separated and reproduced. The woofers utilize McIntosh LD/HP® technology with polypropylene cones and cast baskets. This distributes the audio load across multiple drivers, supporting high power handling and reduced distortion.

Wide dispersion for horizontal and vertical use

The high-frequency unit is rotatable, allowing the dispersion to be adapted to horizontal or vertical placement. The rotatable dispersion characteristic is designed to provide a wide soundstage and precise spatial imaging even from different seating positions.

Mounting, wall clearance, and alignment

The LCR80 can be used with rear stabilizers or wall mounts. The rear stabilizers allow for vertical angle adjustment of ±11 degrees. The wall mounts enable flat mounting close and parallel to the wall, or angled mounting with up to ±30 degrees. When placing the speaker, the area in front of it should remain clear; nearby side walls or large objects in the sound path can affect the frequency response.

Connection and amplifier power

The LCR80 is equipped with loudspeaker terminals. The terminals accommodate speaker cables and spade connectors. Recommended amplifier power is 75 to 300 watts.

Enclosure and front grille

The enclosure is constructed with non-parallel internal surfaces to reduce internal standing waves. The front grille is made of black knit fabric and is magnetically attached.
