Description
Developing the cartridge took a lot of time, applying the same principles that LUXMAN uses for its amplifiers and other components – including careful listening tests at every stage. The result is a cartridge that evolves the character inherent in the LMC-1 and LMC-2 with the help of state-of-the-art technology.
The cantilever is made of aluminum and is equipped with a Shibata-cut diamond stylus, which ensures less noise and extracts more information from the recording. The large, symmetrically wound coil reduces the sensitivity difference between the channels – it also helps to reduce the weight of the cartridge. The magnet itself consists of samarium cobalt.
A lot of attention was also paid to protection against noise and vibration. A special surface magnet system reduces the level of external noise, and the cantilever is additionally protected from unwanted vibrations by an external housing. The aluminum housing is painted in deep red, LUXMAN's house color. The inner walls of the housing are curved – again, to reduce resonances and reflected sounds.
The LMC-5 weighs 8.5 g, the recommended tracking force is 2.1-2.2 g, the output voltage is 0.4 mV. The cartridge operates in the range of 10 Hz to 35 kHz.

LMC-5
The LMC-5 is the first LUXMAN phono cartridge in almost 40 years. In developing the LMC-5, the engineers focused on the stylus and cantilever to enable reliable groove tracing in order to reproduce even the finest musical signals. The carefully crafted housing supports every movement and suppresses distortion.
