Description
McIntosh MA8950 Integrated Amplifier for High-Quality 2-Channel Hi-Fi Systems
The McIntosh MA8950 is a solid-state McIntosh integrated amplifier for 2-channel audio systems. It combines preamplifier and power amplifier technology in one unit and delivers 200 watts per channel.
DA2 Digital Audio Module for Modern Digital
Sources
The integrated DA2 Digital Audio Module offers seven digital inputs: two coaxial, two optical, USB, MCT, and HDMI ARC.
TV Sound via HDMI ARC
The HDMI ARC input allows TV sound to be played through the hi-fi system. Supported multi-channel formats from Dolby® and DTS® are converted for appropriate 2-channel audio playback.
Analog Inputs for Classic Hi-Fi Sources
For analog sources, there is one balanced input, six unbalanced inputs, and one moving-coil and one moving-magnet phono input each. The moving-coil phono input has adjustable load impedance for matching with suitable cartridges.
Vinyl, Digital Sources, and TV in One System
The MA8950 serves as a central hub for turntables, digital players, CD or SACD/CD transports, computers, and compatible televisions. Inputs can be individually named, making larger systems easier to operate.
5-Band Tone Control for Targeted Adjustment
The analog 5-band tone control allows manual adjustments of ±12 dB in 2 dB steps. This allows the sound to be adjusted to the recording, speakers, or room without relying on purely digital correction.
Protection for Amplifier and Speakers
Power Guard® monitors input and output signals and can dynamically adjust levels to prevent harsh distortion and clipping. Sentry Monitor™ is also available.
Thermal Management with Monogrammed Heatsinks™
Integration into Home Cinema
Home Theater PassThru enables the MA8950 to be integrated into a home cinema system. This allows the integrated amplifier to be used in a combined stereo and home cinema setup.
Headphone Operation with HXD®
The built-in High Drive headphone amplifier features Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®). This function can give listening through headphones an additional spatial effect.
Typical McIntosh Design with Wattmeters
The front combines black glass, LED lighting, illuminated logo, aluminum end caps, polished stainless steel chassis, and the characteristic 'McIntosh Blue' wattmeters. The output indicators visually show the power delivered to the speakers.
Roon Tested for Compatible Music Systems
The MA8950 is certified as a Roon Tested device.
