Hamburg, September 2021: Technics announces the market launch of the SB-C600 bookshelf loudspeakers. "When Technics is mentioned, most hi-fi and music lovers immediately think of the brand's legendary turntables, which have become true icons – genuine milestones for use in home hi-fi systems and reliable standard tools for DJs," explains Frank Balzuweit, Product Manager Technics Europe. "Strictly speaking, however, the very first product produced under the Technics name in 1965 was a small 2-way bookshelf loudspeaker," Frank Balzuweit continues. "This compact loudspeaker impressed with a sound quality that was hardly thought possible at the time."

"If you look at the groundbreaking and innovative designs and concepts of Technics loudspeakers over 50 years, it quickly becomes clear how much know-how, commitment, and passion went into their development and production," says Frank Balzuweit. "Nowadays, it's actually not a big problem to build a huge loudspeaker with impressive sound quality," he continues, "but to construct a small, very compact loudspeaker that sounds like a 'big one' and brings a realistic concert acoustic into your own four walls requires very special know-how. The Technics developers were thus able to effectively apply their enormous expertise and many years of experience in the development of the new SB-C600. The result is a compact bookshelf loudspeaker that impresses with absolute detail and gives every music style vibrancy and fascinating spaciousness."

The compact SB-C600 2-way loudspeaker is designed as a bass-reflex construction and, due to its unique coaxial driver, operates according to the "Linear Phase" principle as an acoustically ideal point sound source. Its sophisticated technology was adopted in many details from the significantly larger sister model SB-G90M2.

To optimize all components such as speaker drivers and housing for the best possible sound quality, state-of-the-art computer analyses and simulation software were used in the development of the new SB-C600. Sound-impairing housing resonances and possible distortions of the drivers were thus effectively reduced to an absolute minimum – the best prerequisites for excellent and crystal-clear music reproduction.

The SB-C600 features the following characteristics and technical specifications:

• Phase Precision Driver: The coaxial driver's design was adopted from the chassis of the large floor-standing loudspeakers SB-G90M2. A mid-woofer with a 15-cm diaphragm and a 25-mm aluminum dome centrally located within it function as a quasi-point sound source with excellent phase characteristics. This ensures precise resolution and realistic soundstage imaging.
• Linear Phase Plug: As in the SB-G90M2, this ensures optimal phase linearity and allows for a seamless transition between mid- and high-frequency reproduction without disturbing distortions.
• Balanced Driver Mounting Architecture (BDMA): The woofer is mounted at its center of gravity on a second baffle inside the cabinet. Since the driver unit is not directly mounted on the baffle, sound-degrading vibrations from the chassis are not transmitted to the cabinet. The soundstage is impressively precise and remains astonishingly true to life and uncolored down to the finest nuances.
• The shape of the bass reflex port located on the front of the cabinet was reduced to minimal ventilation noise through accurate analysis of airflow and a "Vortex Generator."
• The extremely stable cabinet structure, in conjunction with the second, inner baffle, effectively suppresses resonances and thus disturbing influences on the sound. The result of these elaborate technological innovations is a wide, finely resolving soundstage with precise spatial imaging and excellent depth gradation.
