Direct-drive turntable with pre-mounted Ortofon 2M Red

The Technics SL-1500CSE is a manual turntable from the SL-1500C series with maintenance-free direct drive, electronic speed switching, and a pre-mounted Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridge. The phono preamplifier and pre-mounted cartridge allow for immediate use without additional devices or adjustment efforts. As a Superior Edition, this model differs from the standard version primarily by its special "Gun Metal Grey" finish and the 4th generation Delta-Sigma-Drive motor control.

Delta-Sigma-Drive and coreless direct drive for precise playback

At its heart is a coreless DC direct-drive motor with a 3-phase, 12-pole, and 9-coil architecture. The iron-coreless stator structurally minimizes cogging, while the rotor yoke reduces magnetic stray fields. The motor control with Delta-Sigma-Drive refines the drive and aims for reduced distortion in the drive signal, minimized micro-vibrations in the vertical axis, and more stable and quieter tracking conditions. This is complemented by wow and flutter of 0.025% W.R.M.S. and a start-up time of 0.7 seconds. Especially compared to conventional concepts, controlled and precise rotation is clearly at the forefront.

Construction, tonearm, and integrated phono section

The two-layer die-cast aluminum platter with full-surface rubber damping is designed for low resonance and rigidity. The chassis follows this approach with a die-cast aluminum top plate, a glass-fiber reinforced ABS base, and height-adjustable damping feet with a spring-rubber construction. The S-shaped, statically balanced aluminum tonearm has a gimbal suspension, is height-adjustable by 6 mm, and is designed for cartridge weights from 14.3 to 25.1 g. The integrated auto-lift function automatically raises the tonearm at the end of the record and can be deactivated if desired. In addition, there is an integrated MM phono equalizer with low-noise FET design, separate grounding, and switchable LINE/PHONO output, so that the internal equalizer can be bypassed if required.
