Description
To ensure the best possible sound quality, the SL-G700M2 is equipped with a high-precision D/A converter that converts digital values into analog signals with the highest accuracy before passing them on to an amplifier. The entire converter unit operates in three stages: coherent signal processing; the actual high-performance D/A converter in a dual-mono configuration; and a specially developed, discrete amplifier circuit.
The SL-G700M2 features the ESS ES9026PRO, a state-of-the-art, dual D/A converter. Thanks to the symmetrical placement of the individual units for the left and right channels on each side of the chip and their independent signal paths, interference is reduced, and the sound spectrum and spatial information contained in the music signal are reproduced faithfully. Just as important for the analog output as the D/A converter is the subsequent filter circuit.
In the SL-G700M2, no simple operational amplifier IC is used here, but specially developed amplifier stages with a discrete design. This significantly reduces self-noise – even the smallest musical details are therefore reproduced clearly, transparently, and authentically.
Coherent Signal Processing
Technics' newly developed "coherent signal processing" improves the reproducibility of impulse signals by minimizing amplitude and phase deviations that can occur during the D/A conversion process. The result of this industry-leading digital signal processing is an increase in sound purity and a clearer sound image for PCM signals* up to 192 kHz.
*DSD signals such as Super Audio CD are fed directly into the D/A converter without this processing.
Multi-Stage, Low-Noise Power Supply
Since digital audio players process tiny signals, careful noise reduction is required because even the slightest noise can significantly impair sound quality. The SL-G700M2 is therefore equipped with a multi-stage "Silent Power Supply" for effective noise reduction. Technics relies on an ultra-fast switching power supply (1), uses low-noise regulators (2), and achieves further active noise reduction with so-called current injection (3). The SL-G700M2 uses a high-speed switching power supply with a clock frequency of approximately 300 kHz, which is also used in the legendary Technics reference class amplifier SU-R1000 for supplying analog circuits. Thanks to this enormously high switching frequency, disruptive influences on the music signal are minimized, and an extremely responsive, stable power supply is ensured.
Thanks to careful fine-tuning of the circuit layout in the control loop, a stable and low-noise power supply is available even at dynamic levels.
Active Noise Reduction through Current Injection
Technics' newly developed current injection technology removes unwanted noise components by injecting a current that is inverted in phase using the "push/pull method," thereby eliminating a noise signal detected by the circuit.
