Description
In addition to established technologies like the JENO Engine and LAPC, the new digital amplifier utilizes innovations such as ADCT (Active Distortion Cancelling Technology) to precisely eliminate distortions caused by voltage drops and electromotive forces from connected loudspeakers. This increases performance without compromising the signal-to-noise ratio, sound presence, and spatial audio that Technics amplifiers are known for.
JENO Engine
Jitter, caused by incorrect timing of the master clock used in digital-to-analog conversion, is one of the main sources of distortion in digital systems. To effectively eliminate these influences on the music signal caused by digital jitter, Technics has developed a completely new jitter reduction circuit consisting of a clock generator for noise shaping to reduce jitter in the lower frequency range and a high-precision sample rate converter in the higher frequency range. Furthermore, Technics uses a newly developed PWM converter assembly to exclude errors during conversion to PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). This circuit optimizes the speed of noise shaping, the degree of requantization, and PWM gradation to achieve perfect conversion to PWM signals without affecting the dynamic range of high-resolution signals. Through these technologies, Technics digital amplifiers impress with natural and the finest nuances in music reproduction.
ADCT (Active Distortion Cancelling Technology)
The newly developed Technics feature ADCT (Active Distortion Cancelling Technology) precisely extracts and eliminates distortions in the power amplifier stage caused by voltage drops and electromotive effects of the connected loudspeakers, ensuring excellent sound performance with a wide variety of loudspeaker types. It identifies deviations between the loudspeaker output and the JENO output and corrects the digital output signal. This ensures powerful loudspeaker operation and strong sound energy, while also offering the superior characteristics of a digital amplifier such as low noise, sharp sound imaging, and expansive sound atmosphere, regardless of the connected loudspeaker types.
Low-noise, stable power supply
"Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply" enables stable performance with low noise
The SU-R1000 uses a switching power supply to ensure stable current and voltage supply for the digital amplifier. The Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply eliminates the modulation noise that often impairs sound quality in conventional switching power supplies by placing the switching frequency in the 400 kHz band. Furthermore, a Super Low Noise Regulator is used to minimize the noise component in high frequency ranges caused by the fixed switching frequency and the associated reduction in regulation. The result is a power supply with fast response time and high performance.
Four independent power supplies
To ensure and further improve the best possible sound quality, Technics has revised every component of the power supply and uses four independent power supply units for different circuit blocks in the SU-R1000. In an integrated amplifier like the SU-R1000, the internal circuits consist of a preamplifier stage and a power amplifier stage in a combination of analog and digital circuits. The phono EQ, which processes the smallest analog signals, is particularly susceptible to noise transmitted via the power supply line. Therefore, the SU-R1000 uses separate power supplies for the analog and digital circuits in the preamplifier stage. In addition, it uses separate power supplies for the left and right power amplifier channels, which require high power. Through the four independent power supplies, the SU-R1000 effectively prevents line-induced interference between the circuit blocks and achieves a high signal-to-noise ratio with superior channel separation.
High-quality inputs for high-precision sound reproduction that meets the highest demands
Both the phono input and the analog input circuits feature a fully discrete design. Technics has succeeded in developing an ideal balanced circuit layout with high-precision tuning. Interference between the right and left channels is effectively prevented, and optimal channel separation is enabled. Furthermore, both the phono and XLR inputs use fully balanced transmission to ensure accurate signal transmission with minimal noise. In addition, the USB input circuit is equipped with a high-quality ruby mica capacitor and a power conditioner with magnetic carbon film resistors. This blocks electrical noise, for example from a PC, and minimizes external interference signals. The A/D converter is equipped with a high-performance chip from Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) for precise analog-to-digital conversion. Excellent sound quality of the SU-R1000 from all analog and digital sources is thus guaranteed.
Extremely stable housing design
To suppress disturbing and sound-impairing vibrations, Technics has comprehensively improved the rigidity of the housing. The inner housing features a double-layered, separated structure. The upper section houses the power amplifier stage, consisting of the amplifier circuit and power supply. The preamplifier section is located in the lower area. It consists of the analog input circuits, including the phono EQ, as well as the digital inputs and their associated power supplies. Both the upper and lower sections, as well as the individual circuit blocks, are separated by solid steel shield plates, which also serve to improve the housing rigidity. The front panel is 10 mm thick, while the side panels and top cover are made of 6 mm thick alumite-treated aluminum plates. Furthermore, Technics has been able to improve rigidity and vibration resistance. The solid device feet that support the housing are made of cast iron with excellent damping properties. By using high-quality components and materials, signal quality is significantly improved, and the effects of external vibrations are effectively eliminated.
