The NAD T 778 is the perfect hub for a powerful home cinema or multiroom system. It supports the latest audio and video technologies and decodes surround sound tracks with up to 7.2.4 channels – including lossless formats like Dolby® TrueHD, DTS® Master Audio, and Dolby® Atmos®. To ensure optimal picture quality, 4K UltraHD signals (60p/4:4:4) are passed through losslessly. Via the integrated BluOS® streaming platform, you can play your own audio files, internet radio stations, and music streaming services in high-resolution quality within a multiroom network. Operation is exceptionally convenient via the integrated front-panel touchscreen, a smartphone, a tablet, or a PC. The nine amplifiers integrated into the T 778 each deliver a continuous output of 85 watts and, if required, a pulse output of up to 300 watts into 4 Ω. And so that the AV receiver sounds optimal in every living room or home cinema, it features NAD's switchable Soft Clipping function and can be calibrated to the acoustics of the listening room with the Dirac Live® system.

Future-proof MDC Modular System

MDC, short for Modular Design Construction, is NAD's measure against rapidly obsolescing HiFi systems. Especially in recent decades, technologies for AV devices have been developing ever faster. Therefore, home cinema fans who want to use new file formats, high-speed HDMI connections with higher bandwidth, or additional features for surround playback are forced to regularly replace their AV receiver or amplifier. NAD's MDC principle provides for all age-sensitive technologies to be integrated on high-quality plug-in cards that can be quickly and easily replaced by a qualified technician with a newer version.

Extensive Surround Sound Options

The T 778 represents the most extensive and best options for multi-channel surround sound playback currently available in the NAD portfolio. It supports HDMI video switching and decodes surround sound tracks to up to 7.2.4 channels. Its state-of-the-art DSPs master high-resolution lossless surround formats such as Dolby TrueHD or DTS-Master Audio, now also with object-based 3D audio like Dolby Atmos, enabling a particularly intensive home cinema experience. The digital inputs of the T 778 automatically recognize the surround mode of the source material and activate the corresponding decoders. High-resolution and extremely linear D/A converters handle the conversion of the digital bitstream.

Efficient Distortion-Free Amplifier Technology

The nine power amplifiers of the T 778 operate with NAD's Hybrid Digital technology. This amplifier circuit is not only characterized by exceptionally good efficiency and extremely low distortion, but is also capable of delivering very high peak currents for loud music impulses and for impressively realistic playback of action scenes. The absolutely noise-free silence in pauses and the explosive dynamics that characterize this amplifier technology lend your music and movies exceptional drama and excitement.

Room Correction for Perfect Sound Quality

DIRAC Live room correction enables a remarkable improvement in sound quality through electronic equalization of the frequency response and impulse response. After calibration, DIRAC Live ensures an extremely clear, natural, and accurate sound image.

Multiroom Music Streaming over the Network

The T 778 features BluOS®, the high-resolution multiroom audio platform shared with NAD's sister brand Bluesound – a unique feature among high-end AV receivers. If the T 778 is connected to the internet via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, it has access to thousands of internet radio stations and numerous high-quality music streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and many others. In conjunction with MQA Studio masters, the T 778 also offers the highest audio resolution currently available.

Versatile Applications

The T 778 supports the latest HDMI functions such as HDCP 2.2, 4:4:4 color resolution, HDR, Dolby Vision, and CEC/ARC. Coaxial and optical digital inputs and outputs allow connection of all your digital sources. For operating a second zone, digitally fed data is converted to analog, whereby the source can be selected independently and its volume controlled. IR repeaters, 12 V triggers for automatic switching on and off of additional external amplifiers, and an RS-232 data connection enable operation in conjunction with smart home systems such as Crestron or Control4.

Convenient Operation, Five AV Presets

Operation via the integrated TFT touchscreen display makes setting up and operating the T 778 easier than ever before. In addition, the receiver offers unique features such as five programmable AV presets, with which speaker levels and sound settings for different program types can be saved and later recalled at the touch of a button. The inputs can be configured completely flexibly, and the T 778 automatically switches to the respective surround mode, such as Dolby Digital or DTS, if the program is encoded accordingly. And, of course, the device plays with all the last used settings when it is switched on again.

Extensive Features Despite Compact Device Dimensions

Although the T 778 combines an enormous range of functions, several digital decoders, video technology, network and wireless components, and nine amplifier channels in its compact housing, the receiver operates without noise-generating fans and can be rack-mounted for integration into complex home entertainment systems. The T 778 is an excellent example of the high competence of the NAD development team and is a sound and powerful hub for high-quality home entertainment systems. And thanks to the new touchscreen and control via smartphone apps, the receiver also sets new standards in operating convenience.
