ELAC Varro PS500
The ELAC Varro PS500 is an active bass-reflex subwoofer for home theater and music setups. It is designed to specifically complement deep frequencies in stereo or surround systems, bringing more punch, depth, and dynamics to playback.
Ideal Target Group
This model is suitable for applications where powerful bass is desired, but the setup should remain as simple as possible. Especially in living rooms where the ideal subwoofer position cannot be freely chosen, the PS500 relies on features that facilitate room tuning.
What sets the ELAC Varro PS500 apart from other subwoofers?

A central difference is the app control with ELAC Sub Control 3.0 for Android and iOS. ELAC is a pioneer here, and the PS500 not only allows control via smartphone or tablet but also simultaneous control of multiple subwoofers. This significantly simplifies operation, because settings do not have to be made directly on the device.
Placement in the Room
Auto Room EQ or Auto EQ uses the microphone of a smartphone or tablet to adapt the subwoofer to the room. This can compensate for peaks or dips in the bass range, providing more freedom in placement. For automatic correction, measurements from 20 to 200 Hz with 1 Hz resolution are taken, and 16 filter coefficients are calculated.
Bass and Performance
The PS500 operates with a 500-watt power amplifier and achieves a peak power of 1,000 watts. The 380mm or 15-inch long-throw woofer is designed for high dynamics, high impulse fidelity, and defined deep bass. With a lower frequency limit of up to 16 Hz in the room and a maximum sound pressure of 115 dB, this model is designed for palpable bass.

Features include a BASH amplifier and a DualCore 28-bit DSP with 147 MHz. This is complemented by adjustment options for parametric EQ, variable crossover, phase, and volume. This allows the bass reproduction to be precisely tuned to the room, setup, and listening habits.
ELAC Varro PS500 Construction
The cabinet is designed for low resonance and is supported by 30 mm wall thickness, internal bracing, and damping. This focuses more on clean bass reproduction rather than disturbing cabinet resonances. The subwoofer is available in black and can be integrated into existing systems via line or LFE connections.
